Should homework be banned?

Many students perceive doing an assignment as a punishment added to the 8 hours of attending classes at school. They would really be much glad to spend these hours playing under sun.
So should homework be banned??
On the cons hand, Homework is usually done when students are already tired from the long day spent at school, which sometimes add nothing to the things they learned in class. At school, students are treated equally and receive the same educational help from teachers, but at home some students have better advantages over others including the overall home atmosphere and the educational help provided by parents or private teachers. For me, as a teacher it’s hard sometimes to check whether the homework is solely done by the student or whether it’s copied or done with the help of an elder. Being young doesn’t mean that this person shouldn’t build bonds with others, unless the homework given says that sometimes, where homework seems unrealistic and hard for a student to complete in a realistic study time making them pay with their free time with family and friends to complete it…
On the pros hand, there are only few teaching hours in a school day, which are sometimes not enough to cover all the materials and come out with all what is needed from students, where the role of homework really comes to allow deeper education away of distraction of other students. Homework prepares student to work independently and to get used to such type of working for their future higher classes and career researches. Overtime, well planned homework can develop students to like the things they are doing and apply what they learned in school. It’s sometimes fun for students to find that the things they learned in class can work with them without a teacher’s help. After all, homework is one link between the teacher, the student and the parents, where parents get engaged in the learning process.
On balance, it’s hard to decide whether homework should be banned or not… I have just provided you with some cons and pros regarding this important issue, leaving you to decide on the winning hand…. Kindly share your opinion!

It's a crucial issue to some people! Well, it depends on the homework itself and its purpose. If it is given just for the sake of making students do something at home that has nothing to do with the lesson and that has no purpose to improve students' learning, then it should be banned. (I don't know if this is spread around or is rare). But if it's for the sake of giving students more time to recall and practice what they learn in class, and it provides them with chances to evaluate themselves, then of course there should be a homework.
I guess the real issue should deal with what KIND of homework to give.

I think that home work shouldn't be totally banned; otherwise many students would not study expect for the exams. But rather the type of home work should change or varied; it's boring for a student to always be given a question to solve. Thus, breaking the routine and encouraging students to proceed beyond the book to make small projects or some searches to get their answers would be a good idea or even making totally new home work to be done through social media or the class website.

i hate homework's, cause really there are many homework's with no purpose, we gain nothing from it,no feedback, no improvements and wasting lot of time.
However homework's should be banned at all, since students at first years need to improve their writing skills, so that if the homework have a positive goal, then it must be given and if it is aimless then we must not waste the students time by giving him/her the homework..

Homework is a practice and practice makes perfect. So, in my opinion homework is very important and it shouldn't be banned. It helps the students finalize and practice what they learned in the class at their home. Also, it helps parents learn more about what their child is learning in the school. Although I believe that homework shouldn't be banned, but I think it shouldn't be given too much.

That depends on the purpose of the home work, the teacher must know the reason of giving a homework, if it's to encourage students to revise the lesson or have practice the skills more for better production. Then it's good , but if it's just for giving a homework without any objective it's something unaccepted

In my opinion, homework is not a kind of punishment. one of the teacher roles is to help the students to understand the advantages behind doing the homework and encourage them to doing it alone in order to make the teacher able to see the weakness.
